Resolution of employees of “Eleftheros Tipos”

Three years ago, when Mr Theodore and Mrs Gianna Angelopoulos bought “Eleftheros Tipos”, we believed that a new era was beginning for our newspaper, which was born in 1983 and has traditionally been considered the flagship of the center- right .

The fact that Mrs. Angelopoulos, did such a fine job as the president of Olympic Committee for the Athens Olympics in 2004, was considered the best possible guarantee for us all. Now, three years later, the owners of the newspaper decided to get rid of it along with the Radio station “City” they later acquired, without any notice.

Resolution

All of us who work for the newspaper, we consider the sudden closure of the newspaper, by means of dissolution and liquidation of the company, illegal and in breach of our trust. We demand the immediate re-opening of “Eleftheros Tipos”. We also demand, to take part in the negotiations, in case one or more potential buyers show interest in acquiring the newspaper.

Meanwhile the staff are in contact with all the major Greek political parties and with the heads of the Treasury, and Employment and Press ministries.
